A flexible service with the aim of supporting older people who just need a
little extra assistance to continue leading independent lives in their own
homes. Tasks undertaken include small odd jobs, transport to medical and
social appointments, occasional shopping, security advice and regular
visits to the lonely and isolated.
- Main area of support is
the befriending & visiting service providing a regular volunteer
who shall spend time talking to an older person usually for a few
hours a week.
- Our volunteer drivers may
be able to provide transport to our pop in clubs & other social
activities, and depending on a client’s circumstances we can take
people to medical appointments.
- We can arrange shopping
trips to enable older people who are house bound to choose their own
purchases.
- We can provide advice on
home security, fire prevention & will help with those small one
off jobs e.g. changing light bulbs, taking down curtains, tidying
cupboards.
- The scheme is free to
users & is funded for 5 years from 2008 by the Big Lottery Fund.
- We have a wide range of
volunteering opportunities. (Please see the Volunteering section)
